In 1891, Brooklyn Kindergarten Society (BKS) established the first free kindergarten in Brooklyn to enhance the early education of needy children. Today BKS provides innovative, educationally stimulating education programs that are focused on breaking the cycle of poverty in the most vulnerable neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Serving more than 300 children (ages 2 to 5) and their families in five centers in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights and Brownsville, we are committed to delivering high quality care that leads to success in school and in life.
